Sockeyes trump Steelers 7-2(Sockeyes win series 4-0)

The Richmond Sockeyes are moving onto the second round after defeating the Grandview Steelers by a 7-2 score in game four. Richmond swept the series and outscored their Tom Shaw opponents 19-6 in the four game sweep. Ayden MacDonald and Jake Wozney had two goals a piece with Wozney getting the game winner in the second period. Kurt Russell picked up his sixth straight win. Richmond will now face the winner of the North Van Wolf Pack and Delta Ice Hawks series.

Sockeyes too much for the Steelers in 3-1 win(Sockeyes lead series 3-0)

The Richmond Sockeyes now have a 3-0 stranglehold on their first round series with the Grandview Steelers thanks to a strong 3-1 win Sunday night. Richmond had three different goal scorers and Kurt Russell picked up his fifth straight win since taking over for Kootenay Alder who is still service his 9 game suspension. Jake Wozney had the eventual game winner and the Sockeyes will look to close out the series Wednesday at 7:15 at the Burnaby Winter Club.

Mac Colasimone opens the scoring for the Sockeyes in the second period.

A nice passing play from Colasimone to Scobie and Scobie saucers the puck over to Jake Wozney who buries it for the 2-0 lead. This would be the eventual game winning goal.

Sockeyes shutout Grandview 5-0 in game two(Sockeyes lead series 2-0)

The Richmond Sockeyes have defeated the Grandview Steelers in game two of the first round by a 5-0 score. Matt Bissett scored the game winning goal midway through the first period and he picked up another goal in the second period. AP Troy Kaczynski from the Juvenile A team had a fantastic game picking up a goal and an assists and was a force all night. Kurt Russell picked up the shutout with a 29 save performance. Game three goes Sunday at 4:00 at the Burnaby Winter Club.

Sockeyes come back from 3-0 deficit to beat Grandview 4-3 in OT(Sockeyes lead series 1-0)

The Richmond Sockeyes were able to overcome a 3-0 deficit to the Grandview Steelers in game one of the PJHL playoffs with a 4-3 win. Dominic Centis scored the game tying goal with just 31.1 seconds left and Ayden MacDonald scored the game winner in OT off a bad turnover from Roshen Jaswal. Kurt Russell had the 30 save win in net for the Sockeyes. Richmond takes a 1-0 series lead into game two which will be at the Minoru Arena at 5:45 on Saturday.

3-0 2nd period deficit is no match for the Sockeyes

The Richmond Sockeyes came back for the third straight game to get their 6th straight victory and move two points up on the Aldergrove Kodiaks for first overall in the PJHL. Richmond had 5 different goal scorers in a 6-5 win over Grandview. Carson Rose had two goals and Dominic Centis notched the game winning goal at the Minoru Arena. Kurt Russell got the win in net for the Sockeyes as Kootenay Alder serves the first game of his 9 game suspension. Richmond can clinch first overall in the league with a win over the Aldergrove Kodiaks Saturday night.

Sockeyes comeback and defeat Wolf Pack 5-3

Richmond once again came back from a deficit, this time it was a 3-2 deficit to the Wolf Pack in the third period. Richmond scored the only three goals in the third period to take the game 5-3. Ayden MacDonald had two goals including the game winner while Kootenay Alder got the win in net.

Big second period leads to 6-5 win over the Outlaws

The Richmond Sockeyes were down 3-1 after the first period , but a huge second period would lead to Sockeyes skating out of the Minoru Arena with a 6-5 win over the Mission City Outlaws. Richmond would have 6 different goal scorers and Kootenay Alder added another notch on his win belt as the Sockeyes keep pace with the Aldergrove Kodiaks for first overall in the PJHL regular season standings.
